Jack Hunter has been Director of the Career Center since December 1998, when he came to Missouri State from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Jack's undergraduate degree in Political Science is from Colorado College, Colorado Springs, CO. His MBA is from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, SD.

Sally is the Assistant Director of the Career Center at Missouri State. She supervises the career counseling function within this office, as well as the job shadow program. Sally holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from Missouri State. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor and maintained a part-time private practice for four years. Her areas of specialization are career counseling, training, personal growth, and life transitions. Sally has been given special recognition by the National Career Development Association as a Master Career Counselor.

Sally has been an adjunct professor in the Guidance and Counseling graduate program at Missouri State where she taught Career Development and has also taught undergraduate classes in Career/Life Planning and Continuous Orientation. While in private practice she co-managed the 3M Employee Assistance Program, where she was responsible for brief counseling and delivery of training programs within the plant.

As a life long learner herself, Sally is passionate about assisting others in their own personal path of growth and development. . . and making it fun.

Sarah has been with the Missouri State University Career Center since June 2008. Sarah graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Business, and received her Master of Science degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Indiana University.

 Sarah finds the most joy in her work when she is helping students explore their own choices and develop ways to land that certain career which excites them.

SuzAnn has worked at Missouri State for approximately twenty years. She was previously with the Cooperative Education office before it was combined with Career Planning and Placement to become the Career Center. SuzAnn has also worked with a Community College in Texas as a program director and as an educational testing consultant.

SuzAnn has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education with an emphasis in Social Studies and a Master of Science Degree in Counseling. She also is an instructor of IDS 110 and IDS 120 (Career Life Planning) and is an active participant in campus activities.

SuzAnn thrives to give encouragement and positive reinforcement to each student with whom she comes in contact. To think outside the box and to explore options and opportunities. . . "If you always do as you have done, you will always receive what you have always gotten."  Look beyond!!

Crystal has been with the Missouri State Career Center since August 2002. She graduated from Drury University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology and received her Master of Science from Missouri State University in Counseling. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Crystal also recently received a Master of Science degree in Administrative Studies with an emphasis in Human Resources. She works with the College of Humanities and Public Affairs. Crystal also teaches IDS 110 and IDS 120 and is the system administrator for the JobTracks software and InterviewStream.

With Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in English, Valerie has put her education to good use. Currently, she is Communication Coordinator for the Career Center, where she has worked since July 1991. In this capacity, Valerie develops the various office publications, maintains the web site, prepares presentation materials, and teaches IDS 110 and IDS 120 Valerie also teaches per-course for the English Department.

 

Before joining the Career Center, Valerie experienced a variety of careers relevant to her major: magazine staff writer; public information specialist for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources; and Lecturer in the English Department. Valerie is a member of STC (Society for Technical Communication) and AWC (Association of Women in Communications) and is advisor for the Missouri State Student Chapter of AWC.

Margie has been at Missouri State University since July 2002.  She previously worked for an Outplacement Agency in Sacramento, CA, as a Career Consultant helping clients in the job search process after down-sizing of several corporations.

Margie's education background includes a Bachelor of Science in Business with emphasis in Marketing and Human Resources and a Masters of Science in Education Counseling specializing in Career Counseling. Her work experience also includes eight years in underwriting, supervising and quality control in the auto insurance industry.

Margie is a member of the Springfield Area Human Resources Association, National Career Development Association and American Counseling Association. Margie enjoys working with college students to help them understand themselves better, teach them about career options and how to become marketable for the world of work.  Margie is driven by the saying,“Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime.”

Pat has been with the Career Center since September 2006.  She graduated from Missouri State  with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and holds master's degrees in both clinical psychology and library studies. After 30+ years pursuing library, mental health, and social service careers, Pat "retired" to southwest Missouri and now fills her days with greeting students, scheduling appointments, and watching students grow.

Pat enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, and just hanging out at home with her husband and two spoiled dogs.

Janelle has been with Missouri State since April 2003 and came on staff with the Career Center February 2005. She graduated from Bethany College in Santa Cruz, CA, in 1989 with a degree in Office Administration. She has completed the certification process to be a Certified Professional Secretary and is a member of the local chapter of the IAAP (International Association of Administrative Professionals).

She is pursuing a degree in Horticulture, and was awarded the ASHS (American Society for Horticulture Science) Collegiate Scholars Award, which was in the new edition of the National Dean's List book of September 2005. Currently, she serves as the Treasurer for the Horticulture Club at Missouri State. Her passion is landscape design, and she has launched her own business specializing in Missouri's native horticulture. She currently is serving as assistant to the Landscape Designer for Habitat for Humanity's latest subdivision of 50+ homes called Legacy Trails.

Janelle's personal work philosophy: "I enjoy working in the Career Center because of the rewards of seeing freshmen who came in very overwhelmed with the whole career seeking process leaving us as a graduate who is confident in their ability to land that "first real job." I see the Career Center as a great place to help students transition from being a student to being an employee in the real working world."

Chalanda comes to the Career Center from the Missouri State Athletics Department. She has been the Administrative Secretary for the Associate Director of Athletics going on 7 years. She graduated from Mid-America Nazarene University with a degree in Psychology. Last year, she completed the certification process to become a Certified Professional Secretary. Her favorite experiences are helping individuals become independent and watching them attain their goals.
